Lot 5478 2 NAPOLEONIC LIGHT CAVALRY SABERS.

1. KLINGENTHAL FRENCH NAPOLEONIC AN IX LIGHT CAVALRY SABER. Curved 33" fullered blade with a tapered spine that turns to a false edge for the final 7". The spine has a nicely engraved makers mark. Brass 3-bar hilt with fine checkered blackened wood grip with a peened lipped pommel with full grip backstrap. Steel scabbard with brass hanger mounts and throat. CONDITION: Overall very good. Blade has lightly cleaned fine pitting. Red velvet washer is in good shape. The guard has a few small nicks. Grips are very fine with light hand wear to the checkering. Scabbard is very good with lightly cleaned steel with some dents and a missing throat screw.2. FRENCH NAPOLEONIC AN XI LIGHT CAVALRY SABER. Curved 33 1/2" fullered blade with a simple well cut double sided engraving of a floral vignette, laurel wreath, & a trophy of arms. Regulation 3-bar brass hilt with leather wrapped grip and peened pommel. Steel scabbard with double hanger rings & brass throat. CONDITION: Sword is overall very good. The blade ha been lightly cleaned with the engraving motifs remaining well discernible. There is an engraving at the ricasso that is worn and mostly illegible. Leather washer is present. The guard has some dings and a repair to one of the bars. The grip leather is hand worn with missing wire. Scabbard is cracked, dented and has some small repairs.
